  • Materials & Finish: Crafted from cast spelter metal.

Where and When Was It Made?

  • Origin: Pieces of this style and animalier aesthetic were commonly produced in France, Great Britain, or the United States. European foundries (particularly French producers specializing in animalier bronzes and spelter ornamental wares) and American iron/metalworks frequently utilized naturalistic grotto, rock, and beast motifs.
  • Date: It dates to the late 19th century, roughly between 1880 and 1900, when figural desk sets incorporating symbolic or exotic animals were popular.
