Yellowware pottery is known for its distinctive golden-yellow hue, which comes from the yellow clay used in its creation. Yellowware pottery was originally produced in England and Scotland in the late 1700s. By the mid-1800s, production spread to the United States, particularly in Ohio, New Jersey, and Maryland, where potters found abundant supplies of yellow clay.
