Description

This heavy, dark-patinated bronze inkstand features a naturalistic, uneven terrain base designed to resemble rough ground or forest floor, complete with a long, shallow pen trough running along the front.

• The Figure: On the left side stands a detailed wild boar in a lowered, foraging stance with visible tusks, textured bristles, and a curled tail.
• The Inkwell: On the right side, integrated into the rocky landscape, is a rock-form inkwell housing a removable clear glass insert. The hinged bronze lid matches the faceted, rock-like contours of the surrounding terrain.
• Marks & Construction: The corner of the base is incised with the signature “Thuss” in a fluent cursive script. The underside reveals a hollow bronze casting.

The signature corresponds to Richard Thuss (1865–1945), a noted Austrian sculptor and designer prominent during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
