Vista Alegre Porcelain Inkstand – Buyer Be Aware
Categories | Modern-day Production / Reproduction / "Fake" |
Date or Era | Post 1992 |
This porcelain double inkstand has an Asian inspired design with finials shaped like a Foo dog, a traditional Chinese guardian lion. A lion’s head is a central decoration.
Backstamp and Dating
The mark on the bottom of the inkwell—which features the letters “VA” with the word “PORTUGAL” below—is a post-1992 mark used by the Vista Alegre factory. This specific stamp was introduced after the company underwent a branding update and is a clear indicator of modern production, not an antique.
