This inkstand features a pot metal, hand-painted mare and colt. The base of the inkstand is a rectangular, textured surface, meant to represent grass on the ground. In front of the horses are two tree stumps. The tops of these stumps are hinged, and open to reveal the inkwells within. The “bark” of the stumps is textured, and the tops have concentric rings, mimicking the appearance of a cut tree.
