This traveling inkwell is crafted from nickel-plated brass and is covered with leather. It has a button on the front that, when pressed, opens the lid to reveal a second spring-loaded lid that covers the glass inkwell inside. This design ensures that the ink remains secure and prevents any spills during travel.

The lid of the inkwell is adorned with a beautiful pietra dura flower design. Pietra dura is an intricate art form where highly polished, colored stones are cut and inlaid into a surface to create detailed images. The flowers on the lid feature white petals and green leaves.

Additionally, the inner lid of the inkwell is marked with an anchor and an “S” shaped fish. This hallmark is associated with antique brass German traveling inkwells, indicating that the inkwell was likely made in Germany, possibly from the late 19th to early 20th century.
