This is an unusual, nickel-plated brass and leather traveling foldable inkwell, likely crafted in the late 19th or early 20th century. In its closed form, the inkwell presents a compact, rectangular shape with rounded edges, ideal for portability. The bright, reflective nickel plating and the small, dark leather panel on the top surface add a touch of elegance.

Upon opening, the inkwell reveals its ingenious folding mechanism. The rectangular body unfolds into three sections: a central spine and two shallow trays that pivot outwards, creating a stable base.

The glass inkwell inside has two covers. First, a cover that opens by pushing the release button.   A screw-open secondary lid then pivots to allow access to the ink.
