• Form & Structure: The inkwell is molded in the shape of a resting tiger, focusing on its expressive head and extended front paws. The upper half of the tiger’s head acts as a removable lid, splitting horizontally along the jawline to reveal the ink reservoir inside.
• Functional Elements:
  • The top of the tiger’s head features a distinct round hole intended to act as a pen rest for a dip pen.
  • When separated, the interior reveals its original, removable cylindrical porcelain insert.
• Decoration & Paint: The piece features a glazed finish with classic warm orange underglaze airbrushing or hand-painted tones, accented by bold, black underglaze brushstrokes outlining the tiger’s iconic stripes. The face is expressively hand-detailed with painted green eyes, prominent black eyelashes and eyebrows, fine whisker dots on a white muzzle, and a thin red line tracing the mouth.
• Base: The bottom of the piece is unglazed white porcelain and is unmarked.
