American, 1830 – 40’s era, pontiled, mold-style ink bottle. This cylindrical and multi-paneled bottle is crudely “mold blown” of thick, medium teal green glass. The uneven side panels shimmer in wavy “whittle-marks” and display suspended are bubbles.
The bottle’s top is hand-tooled and applied making an outward-folded rolled lip. The bottom of the bottle is thick and features a ¼” outer rim, which circles the side-panels and encompasses a deep, tubular open pontil scar. The bottle has an appealing waviness and early glass texture. This bottle’s shape and form is far less common than the early Umbrella inks.
