This cut glass and sterling lock-down travel inkwell dates to 1832. The top of the lid, its hinge, and the upper deck are all engraved in a fine pattern of tightly waved engine turnings. The center has a fancy interlocking script monogram of TMC. The hinged screw-tab is decorated on both sides and lays flat once screwed down. The tab is stamped with a small lion passant. The left side of the lower silver mounting is hallmarked with a right-facing George III, a lion passant, a lower case “q” (for a production year of 1832), a leopard head, and AD in a rectangle. The body of the inkwell is brilliant-cut in a star and diamond lattice pattern which continues to the underside of the glass.
