Although traveling inkwells were created to be practical, they sometimes were made to be fun novelty items as well. Such is the case with this English rugby ball inkwell. It has a imprinted leather covering, complete with lace detailing, over its brass interior. The are two spring loaded catches. In front is a button concealed under the leather which when pressed releases the leather covered lid. Inside is a security lever which, when pushed to the side, opens the internal cover to access the inkwell.
