This bronze figural inkstand is in the form of a rabbit’s head.
- Material: The piece is made of patinated bronze.
- Design: The rabbit’s head is sculpted, with a realistic depiction of fur, whiskers, and expressive features. The animal’s head sits atop a round base. This kind of “animalier” art, which focused on realistic portrayals of animals, was very popular in the 19th century.
- Function: The head is hinged at the neck, serving as a lid. When opened, it reveals a cavity holding a removable glass inkwell insert.
