This Art Nouveau style metal inkwell with a gilded finish features a whimsical design, incorporating naturalistic elements and animal figures. The main body of the inkwell is an elongated, undulating tray with flowing, organic lines characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement. On one side, a rabbit is depicted, seemingly emerging from the curvilinear forms of the tray. On the opposite side, a chick is shown emerging from a half-open egg, which serves as the cover for the ink reservoir. The chick figure is intricately detailed, and the eggshell opens to reveal a clear glass insert, where ink was held. The underside of the inkwell reveals the number “276”, likely a model number.
