An Austrian cold-painted bronze inkwell featuring three owls of varying sizes perched on a dark, branch-like base that ends in large, golden-colored talons. Variations of this design are also known with two owls.
The piece reflects the distinctive style of Viennese or Austrian bronze craftsmanship from the late 19th to early 20th century. Although unmarked, it closely aligns with the work of noted foundries and artists such as Franz Xaver Bergmann.
Comparable examples often include a clear or white glass inkpot and owls with glass eyes. Broken hinge.
