An owl is perched prominently in the middle and serves as the handle for a lid covering an area for storage. On each side are the inkwells. The lids, each inserted with a peg, swivel open and closed. Five owls sitting on a pine branch are embossed on the pen tray. The piece is made from brass or brass plated metal. The inkstand is numbered. On the underside of the base is 4630. Each of the lids is numbered 4488. The underside of the central owl is numbered 4580.
