French mid-19th century solid silver traveling inkwell with a rotating twist-lock lid. The silver mounted lid covering the faceted glass bottle is decorated with period engraving. The small gap in the silver lid drops over the silver lug and rotates to close tightly. The inkwell has an interior leather seal and a small “Gothic” monogram in the cartouche.
