Sterling silver gilt lock-down travel inkwell with a faceted glass inkwell and silver mounted top with original gilded finish. The inkwell has a silver screw-down key and an interior leather seal inside the lid.

This English inkwell is hallmarked with the lion passant silver stamp on the top and on the key. It has the silver duty stamp of King George the Third.  While unclear, it appears to be hallmarked London 1822. The silversmith’s initials are “T.D.” (Thomas Dicks 1798 –1822).
