Jennings Bros Stag’s Head Inkstand

This inkstand features a stag’s head with its antlers designed to serve as a pen rack. The container to the right of the stag’s head has a hinged lid, housing the inkwell within. The base, of rectangular form and pad feet, is ornately decorated with low relief flowers.  It is marked “J B” for Jennings Brothers.

This inkstand was made with different finishes. Four examples are pictured. Two of the examples with applied plaques were souvenirs from Gettysburg and the Colorado State House.
