This inkwell was hand made in Imperial Russia in the 1840’s and features a pair of fairy tale rats (mice) climbing the side of the round inkwell. One rat has a dagger, the other a hatchet. The back side has a detailed Imperial Eagle crest. The front depicts St. George slaying the dragon.
The silver is hallmarked 84 (meaning .875 proof silver). “AK” is likely the maker’s mark (unidentified). I’m assuming 1844 is the date the piece was made.
