This metal inkstand with a bronze finish features a sitting dog.

  • Material and Finish: The inkstand is made of spelter metal with a bronze finish.
  • The Dog Figure: Perched atop a raised plinth, the central feature is a finely sculpted dog. The dog appears to be a hunting breed, possibly a Pointer or a Setter.
    • Its head is low, with its gaze directed forward and slightly downward.
    • The ears are long and drooped, characteristic of many sporting dog breeds.
    • Its body is lean and muscular, with visible ribs and defined shoulders.
  • The Base/Inkwell Body: The dog stands on a two-tiered, architectural base, which forms the body of the inkstand.
    • The top tier is a smaller, square plinth directly beneath the dog.
    • This sits on a larger, flared, and multifaceted base that widens towards the bottom. The shape is reminiscent of an inverted truncated pyramid or a stepped pedestal.
