The dolphins are detailed with scales and fins. They are symmetrically positioned and face away from each other. The central inkwell itself is adorned with wave-like patterns or scalloped designs. The lid of the inkwell has a decorative finial, resembling a flame or acanthus leaf design, which serves as a handle.
