The foxhunt is the motif. The head of a fox sits on top of the hinged lid. A stirrup with crossed riding crops forms a pen rest. A wreath of oak leaves and acorns encircles the base. The wreath and bottom support are cast iron. The body holding the inkwell is copper plated iron. The fox head is hand painted and made of spelter metal. The numbers “4253” are stamped onto the underside of the base.
