A double inkstand featuring a horse head in relief framed by a horseshoe with extruding nails, which can hold a pen. The footed base is decorated with cross-hatched designs. Around the edges are horseshoes and a riding crop. The two glass inkwells have unattached lids in the form of jockey’s caps. Engraved on the horseshoe is “Jos. Anger & Sohne, Wien” (Joseph Anger and Sons, Vienna) likely the owners of this inkstand.
