This novelty inkwell is shaped like an English letter collection box. It is red and cylindrical with a domed top, resembling the traditional British post boxes. These collection boxes, often referred to as “pillar boxes,” have been a staple of the British postal system since the mid-19th century. It has a small knob on the top and a slot for letters. There is a label on the front with postage rates for inland letters.
