This fun inkstand was possibly made to be given to and used by children. It is made of an early plastic – green with swirls of lighter green. It features a two dimensional plastic spotted fawn that is screwed to the plastic base. Little ivory colored blocks, also screwed to the base, are used as holders for the pressed glass inkwells. The inkwell lids are of the same plastic as the base.
Although the inkwells are very clean, the lids have inkstains indicating that this stand has been used. I do believe the inkwells are original as they fit perfectly, but it is possible they are replacements.
This was purchased from a French seller. I feel the style is more German than French, but it could be from either country. I would date this to the 1930s or there-about.
Purchased through Etsy for $52.50 (including shipping), April 2023
