This Art Nouveau piece with its sinuous, organic design features a retriever at the edge of a body of water. One finds the inkwell inside the lotus flower in the pond. In relief is a water bug with pincers taking hold of a cherub’s foot.

This inkstand is inscribed: “Prediger B. Keip in Dankbarkeit, die Gemeinde Breslau am 30.6.1901″

Translation (from German):

To pastor B Keip in gratitude, the congregation in Breslau, June 30, 1901.
