Meriden Silver FIGURAL INKWELL – Dog & Girl c1880 – a figural inkwell depicting a resting dog with a little girl behind him. Made of silver plate (all worn on this piece) by one of the Meriden Connecticut silver companies Wilcox, it dates from around 1880 and is a pure Victorian whimsical desk top item. The dog’s eyes are amber glass. The dog’s head opens to reveal the ink pot.
