A puppy (or beagle) sits atop a brass-plated globe, marked “J.B. 418” on the bottom. Nice original cobalt insert. Attached to the globe is an emblem for “Niagara Falls” – likely a vacation souvenir.
A second example shows this piece marked as a souvenir of Shaft House Copper Mines in Michigan.
The Jennings Brothers company, known for high quality and detailed sculptures, figurines and bookends among other metal items, made this inkwell. They were in business in Bridgeport Connecticut from 1891 to 1953, and used special treatments to create their many finishes that were long lasting and attractive.
