Hand-carved Black Forest inkwell in the form of an old hiking boot with a dog sitting inside. The dog’s head (with glass eyes) is hinged and opens to reveal a fitted glass inkwell. On the bottom, written in pencil is “Interlaken Switzerland”, apparently a souvenir. There is also an incised image of an abstract bird-like form – perhaps the carver’s mark.
