This bronze inkwell features a jockey and a horse’s head, mounted on a circular wooden base. The maker has captured the form and features of the horse, including its ears, eyes, and muzzle. The horse’s forehead is hinged and lifts to reveal the inkwell concealed within its head. Accompanying the horse’s head is a smaller bronze figure of a jockey. The jockey is depicted in racing attire, including a cap, jacket, breeches, and boots. Both the bronze horse head and the jockey figure are mounted on a circular wooden base, constructed in layers.

Also pictured is another version of this horse & jockey inkwell in better condition and a spring-loaded clip with a steeple chase.
