This bronze inkwell is made as an owl perched on a branch. Its details, such as the feathers and talons, are finely sculpted. The owl’s head is hinged and opens to reveal a fitted, removable ceramic inkwell inside.
A particularly striking feature is the owl’s glass eyes. The bronze owl and its branch are mounted on a round base with a simple, decorative border and three ornate feet in the form of palmettes, a classical decorative motif resembling a fan-shaped palm leaf. The base also features two loops to serve as pen holders.
