An Austrian bronze inkstand designed in the form of a birdhouse situated on a tree branch, with several birds flocking around it. The birdhouse has a textured, rustic appearance, and the roof is hinged, allowing it to open and provide access to the inkwell inside. This piece is attributed to Franz Bergman, a renowned artist known for his detailed bronze works. A similar model is referenced on page 253 of “Antique Vienna bronzes” by Joseph Zobel, published by Schiffer, and in “Bronzes de Vienne” by Ernest Hrabalek.
