This is an excavated specimen with vibrant color, dating to the 1850’s. The ink bottle is an eight-sided umbrella style, with a hand applied string lip. There are tiny bubbles throughout. The panels have crude surface texture. The neck has bulge and wave under a lip that has some noticeable offset. The base is “kicked-up” with a deep, thick, and chunky open pontil mark.
