This late 19th century Swiss Black Forest double inkstand features the head of a fox expertly hand carved and finished with glass eyes. The hinged head opens to reveal a hidden compartment for stamps or writing accessories. The fox is flanked by two thick cut glass inkwells with carved wood lids resembling leaf clusters. The inkstand is further decorated with naturalistic carved leaves serving as a pen tray.
