This hand-carved Black Forest inkwell features a Scotty dog (Scottish Terrier) with its distinctive wiry coat and alert, upright ears. The carving is executed with a high level of detail, capturing the texture of the dog’s fur, its expressive glass eyes, and its characteristic beard and eyebrows.
The dog is positioned with its front paws resting over the sides of a pen tray, which is carved to resemble a section of a log or branch, complete with bark details. The dog’s head is hinged at the neck and can be lifted to reveal a glass inkwell nestled inside the hollowed-out body.
