This intriguing inkwell features a bear looking out of an enclosed structure on a stone plinth with an open book in his paws. The structure’s arched back and side panels evoke a sense of an ecclesiastical reading lectern. The book itself bears inscriptions that show a similarity to Hebrew script. I’m unsure what interpretation to give to this whimsical anthropomorphic display.
