This inkstand features an anthropomorphic monkey seated next to a bucket with a removable screw lid covering the inkwell. He’s watching the pot and cooking a meal. A bunch of carrots is in front of him. There is a bottle basket next to his left which serves as a pen holder. The piece is set on a naturalistic base and black marble plinth.
