19th century gilt bronze inkwell of large proportions, surmounted by a large finely cast recumbent hound, possibly a lurcher or deerhound, with crossed paws. The dog lays atop an oval cushion form flanked by two ram heads, all supported by four detailed lions’ legs. The lid lifts to reveal two original ink pots and a square vacancy to the center for storage.
