Description of the Rooster Inkwell:
- Standing Rooster: This detailed rooster figure, rendered in a realistic, upright, and alert stance, holds an inkwell. The rooster’s tail feathers are prominent and fanned, and its body shows sculpted texture, representing plumage. He is made of gilt bronze.
- Inkwell: The inkwell’s opening is integrated into the rooster’s design. The rooster’s head is hinged at the neck, allowing it to flip back to reveal the inkwell beneath. The insert is made of opaque hand-blown glass.
- Base and Pen Holder: The rooster stands on a shaped base, integral to the metal casting. The front of this base features two projections resembling gnarled branches, which are designed to serve as a pen holder. The base is internally weighted with plaster to ensure stability.
