This yellow ware pottery inkstand features a greyhound or whippet. The mustard yellow glaze, foliate embossing, gold accents, and central crest attest to the maker’s craftsmanship. The inkwell has a lid with a flame finial, and the sander has a pierced top. The underside is impressed with the letters “AL” and the number 7. We believe this piece was made in Germany. The impressed markings are consistent with German ceramic markings from the 19th century.
