This bronze inkstand features three detailed pheasants arranged in a staggered formation. Each pheasant is meticulously crafted, with attention to the texture and pattern of their feathers.
The base of the inkstand is elongated and rectangular with rounded corners, with the front serving as a pen tray. The inkwell is concealed to the right of the pheasants and has a hinged cover.
The inkwell is signed F. Gornik (Frederick Gornik 1877–1943), known for his detailed wildlife sculptures. The foundry mark “AR” stands for Arthur Rubenstein, the foundry where this piece was cast.
Inkwell and blotter sold for $359 in August 2024
