This fun inkwell is made of an early, light plastic – not bakelite. It features a cat who looks very much like the cartoon character Felix the Cat. I believe it was meant to depict this character, although is likely not an official version. The cat’s tail is attached to the plastic inkwell lid. When the tail is up, the lid is open. Because of the character and method of opening the lid, I believe this inkwell was meant for children. What child could resist using this inkwell and of course, then writing?!
It is missing its insert. I believe it would have been glass. The inkwell and cat are screwed onto the base.
