An elaborate large Victorian black leather-clad traveling lap desk with engraved brass gilt metal fittings and a large gilt metal handle with monogramed backplate in the center of the top. The interior is clad in a glossy texture with gilt tooling, with several compartments for stationery, blue grosgrain ribbon holders for pens and implements, pen tray, inkwell, match safe, white writing surfaces, fold out section with two lidded compartments with letter straps inside. Inside the lid is a gilt metal label from Rogers, Rock & Company, London.
