Depicted on the top part of the inkstand: a dog, standing on rocks at waters’ edge, pulls the clothing of a flailing child to bring the child ashore. Floating on the water is a shoe.
The base of the inkwell is decorated with cat o nine tails and other water flora. The top lifts off to access two inkwells and two pen holes.
