Depicted is a woman reclined on a tasseled chaise lounge, with her head resting in hand, hair down, and dress askew. Hand painted and cast in great detail – notice the intricacies of her blouse and the beading on her stockings. Some posit this is a lady of loose morals, given her pose and alluring display of leg. Lift the lid to access two inkwells (one a replacement) and a sander.
