This WMF inkstand features a high-relief sculpture of a reclining nude figure integrated into the flowing, organic design typical of the Art Nouveau style, with detailed hair and facial features. The central area for pens is adorned with flowing vines and flowers.

WMF, which stands for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, is a German company known for its high-quality pewter and silver products. This inkstand is a classic example of Art Nouveau style, characterized by its organic forms, flowing lines, and emphasis on natural motifs. The underside of this inkstand bears the WMF mark and is impressed with a “B” (Brittania, a pewter alloy) and “OX” (oxidized), and number 331.
