Large inkwell with a glass body, starburst to the base, and with a solid sterling silver fitted top, collar, and lid. The intricate silver work which fits over the glass body depicts, on four panels, scenes from the painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds known as “Reynolds Angels” (on view in the Tate Gallery, London). An angel’s head adorns the lid. William Comyns crafted this inkwell. It is hallmarked London 1905.
