Vaseline Glass Double Inkwell

This Vaseline cut glass double inkwell has a rectangular base with smooth beveled edges. Atop the base sit two faceted covers with an octagonal design with brass mounts.

Vaseline glass gets its name from its yellow-green hue, which resembles the original formula of Vaseline. The unique color of Vaseline glass is attributed to the presence of a small amount of uranium in the glass composition. This uranium content causes the glass to fluoresce under ultraviolet (UV) light, particularly blacklight. When you shine a UV light on Vaseline glass, it emits a neon green glow—a characteristic feature that sets it apart.
