This is a whimsical inkstand designed as a miniature traveling set, incorporating a hat box, a “bundle,” and walking sticks.
Description:
The inkstand is primarily made of ceramic with painted details to simulate different materials and textures.
- The Hat Box (Inkwell Container): The main body of the inkstand is shaped like a small, oval hat box. It is painted in a light tan or beige color, mimicking the look of leather or sturdy fabric. Details like straps with buckles and possibly reinforced corners are painted in a contrasting brown or tan, enhancing the illusion of a real hat box. The lid of the hat box is removable, and this compartment houses the actual inkwell.
- The Top Hat (Inkwell Insert): Inside the hat box is a separate, removable insert that functions as the inkwell. This insert is painted black and is shaped like a top hat. When removed from the hat box and turned upside down, its form is clearly that of a classic top hat, complete with a brim.
- The Bundle: Attached to the side of the hat box is a cylindrical bundle. It is painted to resemble a rolled-up piece of luggage or bedding, perhaps made of a striped fabric in shades of blue, green, and cream or white. The bundle is secured with painted straps and buckles.
- The Cane and Walking Stick: Resting across the hat box and the bundle are two slender objects. One is painted red or reddish-brown with a curved handle, resembling a cane. The other is shorter and has a decorative knob at the end, appearing to be a walking stick.
