Spanish pattern pieces are gilded with recesses frequently blackened and occasionally tinged with red and green tones. They are sculptural and richly detailed and medieval in character. Fanciful animals, decorative foliage, and symmetrical designs are creatively interwoven.
#1883 – 5 ⅞” x 4 ⅛” x 4 ¼” high
This bronze inkwell is finished in a rich gold doré. It is elaborately decorated with two winged gargoyles with outstretched wings, along with other elements of Spanish influence. Its pagoda lid with finial resembles a tile roof.
The piece pictured sold for $1700 in June 2022. Price range for this piece is from $600 to $2200.
